This is Acklam Express with our salt therapy machine. Powdered salt is pumped out of the valve on the side of the machine and inhaled by the horse.
Salt is a great non-invasive and drug free healer. The inhaled salt helps to loosen any mucus in the horses airways, therefore making them a lot clearer. The salt also helps the horses skin amongst a variety of other benefits, including reducing inflammation and aiding circulation.
A string of our two-year-old fillies having their first canter on Langton Wold’s newly resurfaced six furlong gallop. A great addition to the ever improving training facilities here in Malton.
Athollblair Boy runs this evening in the 6:00 at Newcastle. There are only four runners declared for the race and Alex Jary takes 7lb off.
Best of luck to his connections!
Whatwouldyouknow was a 3-time winner last season. Now 7, he is still looking as good as ever; seen here with Jess, who has done a great job with him since he came back from his holidays.
With Isla Kai (Right) and As If By Chance (Left), it’s definitely a case of who’s bigger. We still can’t tell!
Faye is delighted to have Woodlands Charm back in the yard (well, we think she is!).
Fingers crossed for another great season for Woodlands Racing and Middleham Park.
Cozican runs this evening in the 5:30 at Wolverhampton. Hayley Turner takes the ride for the first time.
Best of luck to his connections.
This Exceed and Excel gelding doesn’t seem to mind a bit of frost! Temperatures as low as -5 this week.
A string of our two year old colts and geldings having an easy but educational day around the track.
Two-year-olds by Dandy Man, Exceed and Excel, Cotai Glory, Night of Thunder, Kessaar and Monsieur Bond.
Hopefully some nice prospects!
Sometimes we all need a bit of a pamper session!
Chloe is giving Acklam Express a little tidy up. He looks like he is in his element.
Another Bertie make his seasonal debut today at Southwell in the 3:55. He is stepped down in Class and runs again over 6 furlongs.
Hollie Doyle takes the ride for the first time.
Best of luck to his connections!
Bakr returns to Newcastle this evening to contest the lucky last over 6 furlongs. She has come 4th over C&D on her last two runs.
Lewis Edmunds takes the ride on Bakr for the first time.
Best of luck to her connections.
Just before 8:00am and we’re slowly getting lighter mornings, making the jobs a lot easier!
The sunrises aren’t bad though!
A week of next to no rain?
This Night Of Thunder colt isn’t complaining. He is a half-brother to Force Eleven, who has just returned to Woodlands Stables to prepare for his 3yo campaign.
A rehoming success story! This horse is proof that all racehorses can be rehomed successfully. Itsgoodtobeus didn’t provide many memories on the track but he did leave a lasting memory on those that rode him at home. Good memories? I’m not so sure!
Now a reformed character, he is now loving his new life and is even good enough for a beach ride (the sea air must have got to him)!
Monday mornings should be for…..sleeping.
Cozican returns from a 125 day break to make his seasonal debut at Southwell this afternoon.
He tackles 7 furlongs for the first time and wears a first time hood. Faye Mcmanoman takes the ride.
Best of luck to Cozican’s owners, Martin Webb Racing!
It’s a hard life being on your holidays! He hasn’t even started the season and he’s already napping, we know how he feels!
Totes Emosh heads to Wolverhampton this evening to contest the 5f handicap at 8:00. Prime time racing!
Best of luck to her owners, The Wolf Pack, who have runners at both Meydan and Wolverhampton today. I know where I’d rather be!
Stable jockey, Rowan Scott, is out in Dubai where he is looking forward to rekindling his partnership with Acklam Express later in the season.
He rides Marie’s Diamond in a Group 2 contest for Roger Fell, on the first day of the Dubai World Cup Carnival this afternoon.
Best of luck Rowan!
