Athollblair Boy was back at his favourite Newcastle tonight after just a 5 day break, where he was a very convincing winner under a very cool ride from Faye.
He seems to be getting better with age and keeps on improving, not allowing the storm force winds nor the snow to slow him down tonight!
Last one to leave the yard please switch the lights off!
A large stable contingent heading up to Gosforth Park today for this evenings all weather fixture at Newcastle.
We are taking 4 horses up, including Hunters Step and Athollblair Boy who have both recorded wins at the track.
4 jockeys being employed tonight, with Tom Eaves, Rowan, Izzy and Faye all having a ride for the stable, in that order.
Izzy and Athollblair Boy sharing the memory of their last victory together.
Great to get off the mark for 2020 as Hunters Step is victorious at Newcastle under a lovely ride from Faye.
We are delighted to have made 2 new signings as we look forward to the new season.
Aiden Smithies has joined us as an apprentice from the Mark Johnston stable, and Lucy has arrived from the Northern Racing College.
Queen Bee Helen has captured the beauty of an early morning at the yard.
Trainers Christmas Message
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our owners who have supported us throughout 2019.
There were some marvellous highs during the year, and it was very touching when Ginger Jam won 5 races, including a sequence of 4 victories at Beverley where he has had a bar named after him.
A big thank you to all of our staff, Chiropractor Mark Noble, Vet Peter Hines MRCVS and his team, Pip, Sarah and Sarah, and our stable blacksmith Liam.
Our secretary Sam starts her 28th year at the stable in January, and Queen Bee Helen is in her 21st year.
We feel we have 3 good apprentices in Rowan, Faye and Izzy who have ridden 50 winners between them this calendar year.
I would like to wish everyone and their families a very merry Christmas, and a successful and Prosperous New Year.
A team hack through the local villages this morning, the yearlings becoming used to the outside world.
Both of these yearlings are looking like proper racehorses now, posing together in the lunging arena.
Faye is on the Havana Gold offspring, and Helen’s mount is by Buratino.
A beautiful day at the stable captured by Helen.
At the end of the rainbow over the horse walker, there is hopefully a pot of gold in the form of a yearling.
They are being put through their paces now, and there are still some available for sale.
Visit our horses for sale page, or call in to see more.
The stable cat is joining the yearlings, making the most of the Langton sunshine.
Yearlings returning from being driven through the village. Torrential rain, so they will be well equipped for Royal Ascot!
Life at the stable not too stressful, with one of the yearlings just taking a nap as another one wakes up.
Our Fountain Of Youth x Rosein filly looks even more of a bargain as the dam produces yet another winner today with Bahuta Acha scoring for the 4th time at Wolverhampton.
As the yearlings continue their education, 2 of the stable stars Athollblair Boy and Kilbaha Lady head off for a winter break after a successful season on the track.
It’s not all glamour as Amy and James brave the elements awaiting the safe return of their horses at Doncaster.
A very busy day at Doncaster for James, a member of the team at Woodland Stables, who led up a horse earlier in the torrential rain, then rode Jupiter Road in the last race. At which point it was still pouring down!
A very very wet day at Doncaster today as two of our yearlings made their debut and learned a lot from the experience.
The education of the yearlings is in full swing now, and the majority of the yards older horses are beginning their winter holidays.
Here is our Havana Gold Colt who is doing everything asked of him, and has quickly progressed to having a jockey on his back.
He is still available to purchase, full details can be found on our horses for sale page.

Back in action tomorrow, racing at Pontefract where 2 of our stable favourites Roundhay Park and Sheepscar Lad face each other in the last.
Plenty of entries this week as the turf season enters its last few weeks.
Roundhay Park
Sheepscar Lad
The education is progressing nicely with 2 of our yearling being driven through the nearby village of Langton.
