It is fairly obvious from Izzy’s smiling face that despite Norman keeping his hooves crossed, the rain did eventually arrive at Newmarket and the ground turned soft against him.
Normandy Landed.
Norman has arrived at Newmarket before his race , and has everything crossed that the rain stays away.
Izzy Clifton is on board as he seeks his 7th career win. This partnership have been 3rd and 2nd on their 2 previous attempts, and hoping to go one better this evening.
Having had a kiss from Helen as he begins his pre race relaxation, he is already a winner!
Road Trip!
Very busy Friday ahead for the stable and staff who will be stretched country wide.
We have no less than 5 runners tomorrow, at 5 different tracks. Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Newmarket, Chelmsford, before Bashiba (pictured) rounds off the day at Thirsk.
Double Double Dutch
Yes They Can!
Dutch Coed makes it 4 wins for the season, storming up the hill at Beverley to grab victory on the line.
Here he is swinging round the bend, just passing Beverley Minster. Came from a long way back under Rowan who timed his winning run to perfection once again.
Bertie & Archie Go Close
Archie Perkins was back at Beverley today where he has had great success for owners Stewart Perkins and John Raybould. He ran another great race on Ladies Day and was just beaten into second place. He was attempting to win his 4th race of the season, but it’s not over yet!
That followed a great run earlier from Bertie’s Princess who finished well to be runner up. Two seconds in a row for the stable and Rowan.
Let’s see if Rowan can go one better in the next race, and if Dutch Coed can make it 4 for the season?
Happy Retirement Cliff
Cliff heads off into a well deserved happy retirement.
He has been racing with us now for 6 season, winning 5 times.
He was a bit of a late starter, not making his debut until the age of 4, but he made up for lost time, making 66 racecourse appearances, and now retires at the age of 9.
This is the moment he found out he was retiring. He seems to be ok with it.
He has brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, owners, jockeys, stable staff, and occasionally punters, and he will be missed by everyone.
Gagnant Trente Trois
Winner Thirty Three for the season.
Singe Anglais, (English Monkey) wins for owners Geoff Maidment and John Raybould at Thirsk this evening.
A son of Footstepsinthesand, this is his 2nd career win following a victory on his last start at Beverley.
Ridden again by Faye McManoman, who made the decision to stick in a group of 4 racing up the far side, and it proved to be a wise one.
Ginger Jam Making More Headlines
Major Win
Carrying the same colours as Ginger Jam, Citron Major makes it 32 stable winners so far this season.
In a thrilling finish, Rowan timed a late burst to perfection to get up on the line at Windsor. This was the 2nd win of the season for Citron Major, the 5th of his career,
Citron Major and Ginger Jam, are both by the same sire Major Cadeaux.
Jam On Top
Ginger Jam does it again with a 4th consecutive win on the Westwood, again from the worst draw.
Faye held him up and came late again to win by 3/4 length.
6th Win of the season, and it’s only July!
Barking Up The Wrong Tree
The stable was doubly represented in the Bark De Triomphe at Beverley racecourse today, with mixed results.
Nancy ran very green, took ages for the penny to drop as she ran from one side of course to the other, but finished well to show some promise.
Belle broke well and cruised along in the first half of the race, before losing the plot, misbehaving badly, and starting a fight after crossing the finishing line. The stewards will no doubt be having a closer look.

Belle And Nancy Meet The Rising Ground…
Tension building as dogs line up.
Triple Double
Always nice to have a winner at York, and Triple Distilled made it 2 in 2 weeks for owner John Saville.
Rowan Scott rode again, and in the testing conditions, timed his run perfectly to get up on the line in the final race of the day. That was winner number 30 for the stable this year.
The horse’s half brother Abstemious won an earlier race on the card so the signs were good.
Nice to finish a very busy weekend for the team on a winner. A special mention must go to Kaeso who finished a very close up second in the Moet & Chandon International Stakes at Ascot.
Archie Meets Archie
One of our stable stars Archie Perkins was named after the grandson of one of his owners Stewart Perkins.
Here they are face to face, with little Archie feeding his namesake some polo mints.
Little Archie is 5 years old, and big Archie is 4.
Busy Busy Busy
It’s all hands to the pump for the team this weekend as we have a total of 12 runners across the country over Friday and Saturday.
A very busy time for the staff, we are sending horses north and south, and will be represented at Thirsk, York, Ascot and Newmarket.
Making The News
Nothing Jammy About That!
Ginger Jam continued the stable form and landed a convincing win at Beverley this evening, the 5th win of his 12 race career.
A great ride by Faye McManoman, coming from last to first , this was his third win in a row at Beverley.
Kaeso Again
Hollie Doyle travelled from riding at Newmarket this afternoon to ride at Doncaster this evening.
The journey was worthwhile as she rode Kaeso to a convincing victory, the second time they have teamed up together to win.
Kaeso was winning the 8th race of his career from only 24 starts, a very impressive one in three strike rate.
Dutch Hat Trick
A third victory in a row today for 7 year old Dutch Coed who won well at Hamilton for owner Sara Hattersley.
This was his third win in the space of a month, ridden on every occasion by Rowan Scott, and the fourth of his career.
The horse and jockey are both flying at the moment!
Singe Anglais Delivers
A nice winner for owners Geoff Maidment and John Raybould as Singe Anglais wins at his third attempt to take the opener at Beverley today.
