Have just been out with Cliff for our last ride together before he heads off to his new home and his retirement.
I will of course be keeping in touch with him, so it’s not goodbye forever.

Still on cloud 9 after winning on the amazing Our Little Pony, so I stayed behind for a bit of a celebration and watched Scouting For Girls.
Didn’t stay too long as it was way past Belle’s bedtime, and I don’t think she was a huge fan.
I don’t have a ride at Newmarket on Saturday now, the soft ground means Tenax will be saved for another day, but will still be a very busy weekend with plenty of horses to ride out and muck out!
Can’t believe I have won again on Our Little Pony!
This is the 4th win we have shared together, and it has to be one of her most impressive so far, winning by an easy 3 lengths at Thirsk this evening
Her mum was named Cracking Lass, and she is certainly living up to that. What a fantastic horse, and what a great start to the weekend!
A big thank you to the owners for letting me ride, I am so grateful.
Another good race from Northern Lyte as well, and another place, staying on well to finish 3rd.
Stable horses still in great form. Looking forward to the weekend.
And the sun is actually shining…..
Sheepscar Lad ran a great race at Beverley, and we only just failed to get up, a frustrating 3rd runner up spot for the stable at this 2 day fixture.
Still have another good chance with Northern Lyte later this afternoon. Fingers crossed!
It was nice to see Ginger Jam have a special mention for his amazing achievements at Beverley racecourse this year when a bar carried his name at ladies day today. Well deserved. The stable has a winner and two 2nds as well so a good day all round.
I am back to Beverley tomorrow with 2 good chances on Sheepscar Lad and Northern Lyte.
Any jockey will tell you, you never forget your first winner.
Cliff provided me with both my first and second winner.
The photo of the win is above my fireplace, the trophy is next to it, and I still have the horseshoes he was wearing!
We clicked immediately at the stable from the first time I rode him out, and I was regularly told to shut up when I was speaking about him too much.
I will miss the view from between these ears now he goes into retirement.
Thanks for the great days Cliff.
Belle seems very comfortable in her new travel seat.
A kind Traffic Cop stopped me and pointed out it probably wasn’t best to drive on the motorway with Belle on my Lap?
Only Kidding!
We have done plenty of miles this weekend, and have plenty of adventures planned together. I will keep you posted.
The wet weather never helped with the weekend plans, the heavy rain not suiting either of my intended rides. Northern Lyte never ran, and Allux Boy never enjoyed himself.
On the plus side, I stayed the night in Scotland and rode out for Linda Perratt who has the most beautiful place!
Belle certainly enjoyed the view and made a new friend.
I am looking forward to the weekend, starting with 2 good rides today.
I will be travelling nearly 2.5 miles on horseback on the track, but a lot further on the road. I do enjoy driving, but that’s another story!
Today I am excited to be riding 2 of my favourite horses who I have won on previously.
First it is Allux Boy in the first race at Musselburgh, and then Northern Lyte in the last race at Haydock.
Then its back to the stable before returning to Scotland tomorrow with a ride at Ayr.
So happy to have ridden another winner for the stable.
Singe Anglais followed up from his last win at Beverley to repeat the feat at Ripon tonight. A big thank you to the owners who let me ride again, a lovely horse.
That makes it 30 career wins for me now. Unbelievable!
Had a great night at Carlisle tonight, had some great rides and was just beaten into 2nd place in the first 2 races. It was a great atmosphere with a big crowd, and everyone seemed to be having fun.
Back to the stable now, looking forward to riding Singe Anglais again tomorrow, this time at Ripon. I thought he ran a good race when we won at Beverley last time. I think he would have learned a lot from that, and look forward to a good run.
Looking forward to tonight, taking part in the only all female jockey race meeting in the UK at Carlisle.
It’s Ladies Night, but with 4 rides, I will probably be too busy to enter the best dressed competition.
Gok Wan is performing after the races, but unfortunately I will have to leave early to put Tenax to bed.
Belle drying off on her towel on the way home from Scotland after the heaviest rain I have ever seen.
Hamilton was abandoned after just 3 races due to the torrential rain.
Everyone was soaked to the skin, and we actually had to pour water out of our riding boots!
Just had a great ride on one of my favourite horses Our Little Pony at Thirsk.
We have had 12 races together and won 3 times. 2nd on this occasion but ran a fantastic race in defeat.
Quick change and on the way to ride at Hamilton this evening…
Back to Beverley today, and the incredible Ginger Jam wins for the 4th time in a row at the track, and his 6th win this season. It is unbelievable, I am running out of words…
The love of my life Belle represented the jockeys against the trainers in the fiercely competitive Bark De Triomphe at Beverley today. She qualified for the final having been placed in her heat, but it could have gone better.
You can see from the photo that I was more revved up than she was before the start. She broke well and was up with the pace for a long way before losing concentration and misbehaving. I think she may need blinkers when we return to try and win it next year.
Raring to get back in the saddle after a couple of days off, and cant think of a better way than climbing back on Ginger Jam as he goes for his 4th win in a row at Beverley.
Rapid Lad won 12 races at Beverley in the 80’s and has a bar named after him, so we are well on the way!
Happy with Daffy Jane who ran another great race back at York when finishing a close up 4th of 16 on Friday night.
A couple of potential rides coming up early next week on Ginger Jam and Sweet Marmalade. Just what every jockey needs, a reminder of food!
It would be very exciting if Ginger Jam turns up at my lucky track Beverley looking for his 4th win in a row.
Hottest day of the year according to the weatherman, and it definitely felt like it at Yarmouth!
Belle was grateful for the air conditioned box, and so was True Hero. We stopped for a break on the way home, having set off at 5.30 this morning.
I am really looking forward to the weekend, a very busy time for all of us at the stable with loads of runners all over the country.
I have 3 rides tomorrow, including Daffy Jane for Mr Bill Burton. We were second together the last time we were at York, and fingers crossed we can go one better.
